Interim 'inbetween': a napier photography exhibition

Napier University photography students are the latest group to have utilized the unique space we have to offer at DOK.  As with the recent exhibition of paintings by final year Edinburgh College of Art students, the Steel Shed’s arresting combination of an intimate space within the expansive environs of Leith Docks’ Western Harbour provided a perfect backdrop for the striking photographs on display. The opening night on 31 March was well-attended; as well as the traditional refreshments of wine, beer and nibbles, attendees were treated to live music, with an accomplished guitarist enhancing the visual delights.  The exhibition attracted a steady stream of  visitors  right through to 6 April.

Inbetween featured a diverse range of work, from large-scale prints capturing Scotland’s wild and verdant landscapes, to more intimate studies, including a detailed portrait capturing the intensity of surgeons performing an operation.  There were also more abstract images, with one series focusing on the interplay between light shining through gaps in doorways and the shadows being illuminated beyond. The exhibition itself shone a light on the array of talent emerging from Edinburgh's Napier University.
