DOK is a contemporary artist run collective.
In 2019 we sadly had to hand over our premises due to a development on site. We will still be operating as a collective hosting pop up exhibitions throughout the year, however we will no longer be taking any bookings or enquiries. One of the key driving factors behind the project is the lack of affordable and unique artist studio and exhibition space in Edinburgh. In 2015 we renovated what is the last remaining building from Henry Robbs Shipyard at Leith Docks converting it into studio, exhibition and events space that benefits emerging and established artists as well as the wider local community. We have worked with theatre groups, Edinburgh Art Festival, Edinburgh Student Art Festival, Architecture Fringe, Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh College amongst others. DOK's programme has included solo-shows by Lewis Bissett, Greg Bryce, Karen Fleming, Emily Fong, Johannes Gierlinger, Emily Herring, Fraser McClelland, Eva Mitera, Liana Moran, Hazel Powell, Michael Kay Terance, Stephen Norman Young and Alex Weir. DOK is helped run by voluntary committee members: Chris Dobson, Mark Fleming, Kirsty Mackenzie, Joshua Nuttall, Mayanne Soret and Stephan Norman Young. DOK was awarded charity status in 2017. |
