Normil Hawaiians

25th - 26th August  Free Entry
Doors open 5pm
Performance starts from 7pm onwards

Normil Hawaiians will be playing 2 nights at DOK Artist Space as part of this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The Normil Hawaiians formed in the early 1980s in Brixton, London.
Originally formed in the chaos that ensued following Punk's burn-out, Normil Hawaiians were an ever-changing collective based around guitarist / vocalist Guy Smith.

Appearances at festivals (including Stonehenge) and a short tour of Switzerland occured around this time, following which the band split in 1986.

Musically, the earlier recordings mix Post-Punk with an anarchic Funk edge, a sound that contains hints of A Certain Ratio, Joy Divison and early Killing Joke. Later works lose the Funk, and become ever more experimental and Psychedelic, with exploratory improvisations and strange recordings
